Refund Policy

Last updated: May 17, 2026

This Refund Policy explains when and how you can request a refund for a paid Drift subscription. It applies to purchases made through account.drift-ide.com and is incorporated into the Terms of Service.

Summary

  • The Drift desktop IDE is free. Refunds only apply to Drift Pro subscriptions.
  • New Pro subscribers can request a full refund within 14 days of their first paid charge — no questions asked.
  • You can cancel at any time. After the 14-day window, monthly fees already paid are non-refundable, but you keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
  • API and AI provider usage (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, etc.) is billed by the provider, not by us, and is outside the scope of this policy.

1. What can be refunded

This policy covers fees paid directly to Drift for a Drift Pro subscription, including the launch promotional price. It does not cover:

  • Charges from AI providers for your API usage (these are billed by the provider under their own terms)
  • Third-party marketplace purchases or extensions distributed by other vendors
  • Subscriptions purchased through resellers or other channels — those are governed by the reseller's refund terms

2. 14-day money-back guarantee

If you are unhappy with Drift Pro for any reason, you can request a full refund of your first payment within 14 days of the initial charge. We will refund the full amount to the original payment method and downgrade your account to the Free plan.

The 14-day guarantee applies once per customer and is intended for new subscribers evaluating the product. It does not apply to renewals or to subsequent re-subscriptions after a previous refund.

3. Monthly renewals

Drift Pro is billed in advance on a monthly basis. After the initial 14-day window:

  • You can cancel at any time from your Drift Cloud account settings.
  • Cancellation stops the next renewal — you keep Pro access through the end of the current billing period.
  • Fees already paid for the current period are not pro-rated or refunded.

4. Annual or multi-month plans

If we offer an annual plan and you cancel mid-term, we will refund the unused full months on a pro-rata basis, less any discount applied versus the equivalent monthly price. Partial months are not refunded. The 14-day money-back guarantee still applies to the initial purchase.

5. Exceptional circumstances

Outside the windows above, we may issue a refund or credit at our discretion when:

  • A confirmed bug or outage on our side prevented you from using a feature you paid for, for a meaningful portion of the billing period
  • You were charged in error, charged twice, or charged after a cancellation took effect
  • An unauthorized charge was made on your account and you notified us promptly

Where local consumer-protection law grants you stronger refund rights than this policy, those statutory rights apply and are not affected by anything in this policy.

6. What is not refundable

  • Usage-based charges billed by third-party AI providers — please contact the provider directly
  • Subscription periods you have already used beyond the 14-day window
  • Accounts terminated for breach of the Terms of Service, including violations of the acceptable-use rules
  • Promotional credits, gift codes, and discounts, which have no cash value

7. How to request a refund

Email billing@drift-ide.com from the address associated with your Drift Cloud account. Include:

  • The account email
  • The date and approximate amount of the charge
  • A short note on why you're requesting a refund (optional within the 14-day window, helpful outside it)

We aim to respond within two business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.

8. Chargebacks

If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first — we can almost always resolve it faster than a chargeback. Disputing a legitimate charge with your bank without contacting us may result in suspension of the associated Drift Cloud account pending resolution.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Changes apply to charges made after the updated policy takes effect. Material changes will be announced through the application or, for Drift Cloud users, via email.
